Haslam budget to focus on education, facilities, vulnerable

Hours before delivering tonight’s annual State of the State address to Tennesseans, Gov. Bill Haslam told reporters his budget proposal will include investments in education, maintaining aging properties and serving vulnerable citizens.

The comments come as the state finds itself awash in money. State sales taxes and franchise and excise taxes have poured in nearly $375 million more than state officials expected so far this year with another seven months left to collect more.
