The retired chairman of the defunct Service Merchandise is declaring in an email this week that “Service Merchandise is back!”

Raymond Zimmerman, following the arduous bankruptcy proceedings and a couple of years spent on other ventures, has reincarnated his old company, though in a somewhat different format. The name of the former catalogue showroom chain is now hung on an online retailer based in Boca Raton, Fla.
