Kohlberg & Co., the buyout group with which Corrections Corporation of America Chairman Bill Andrews serves as a principal, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the sewing business and trademark of Singer N.V. (SNGR.PK).

The sewing company's U.S. headquarters are located on Heil Quaker Boulevard in LaVergne. Singer, which was founded in 1853, relocated its consumer products unit to Tennessee in 1997. The LaVergne site also includes its wholesale distribution operation for sewing machines and parts.
