Former Preds assistant lands in Arizona

Phil Housley

A former Predators assistant coach instrumental to the teams’ first Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 2017 has found a new home.

Phil Housley, who worked primarily with defensemen with Nashville, has agreed to a multi-year assistant coach contract with the Arizona Coyotes, the team announced on Sunday. Housley’s work on the 2013-17 Predators teams was critical, since the team sported one of the top defenseman groups in the league. The Preds finished in the top half of the league for fewest goals allowed three times while also scoring the most or second-most goals by defensemen in each of those four seasons.
