After months in development, state tourism officials have unveiled a new marketing campaign aimed at better promoting the state’s attractions and destinations to national and international audiences. Gone is former Gov. Don Sundquist’s slogan, “Tennessee: Sounds Good To Me,” a message intended to highlight the state’s musical heritage from the Memphis blues to the country music of Nashville to the Appalachian music of East Tennessee. In its place is “Tennessee: The Stage is Set for You.”

Gov. Phil Bredesen and Tourism Commissioner Susan Whitaker unveiled the new tourism advertising campaign Wednesday before a large crowd gathered at the downtown Sheraton Hotel. According to tourism officials, the campaign is meant to highlight the state’s music culture, outdoor adventures, family fun, heritage, and scenic beauty.
