Shareholders of filtration products maker Clarcor have voted in favor of a resolution that calls for the company to annually report in detail on its sustainability efforts — a move the company has resisted for several years, saying it would be cumbersome and expensive.

Boston-based Walden Asset Management has since late 2013 pushed Clarcor executives to commit to a plan that shows how they are managing the Franklin-based company's environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks, including plans to cut greenhouse gases. Walden's resolutions have pointed out, among other things, that several of the company's larger competitors and more than 70 percent of companies in the benchmark Standard & Poor's 500 Index disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and climate change management programs to CDP, which used to be called the Carbon Disclosure Project. Those numbers have been growing steadily in recent years.
