The Metro Council will take a final vote on Aug. 19 on a rezoning plan for The Nations, legislation that has stirred contention among the West Nashville neighborhood’s residents and local urbanists in recent months.

If passed, the bill — referred to as The Nations Neighborhood Plan — would impact more than 300 acres by creating an urban design overlay (UDO) and allowing for increased housing density in the area through a group of rezoning ordinances.Â
