April start eyed for downtown mixed-use project

The development team looking to reinvent a downtown site located near Municipal Auditorium with buildings housing a hotel and residences announced Monday it will break ground on the project in April.

To rise near both the Tennessee State Capitol and Metro Courthouse on what currently is a 2.1-acre surface parking lot at 450 and 460 James Robertson Parkway, the two future buildings will be located next to a structure accommodating a TownePlace Suites Marriott hotel (and that opened in 2020). That site was developed by an LLC that includes Deep Cove and The Gettys Group. On an adjacent site sits the modernist building housing NewsChannel 5.
