The Food Biz: tayst's new vibe

After more than six years in business, groundbreaking restaurant tayst is about to reopen after a complete renovation aimed at updating the joint and supplying a “hip new vibe.”

Chef Jeremy Barlow, known for his culinary whimsy and garrulous personality, is uncharacteristically quiet on the details of the renovation, which started May 29. He wants diners to be surprised on Tuesday, when tayst reopens with a special wine dinner titled “Extreme Makeover (tayst edition)” that features dishes riffing on cosmetic procedures. (“Cheek augmentation,” for example, is braised veal cheeks with basil, tomato and lemon.)
