The Music City Center in downtown Nashville

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s office has filed a bill with the Metro Council seeking to refinance 2010 bonds and further rid Metro of its obligations related to an Omni Hotel-related incentive.

Councilmember Kyonzté Toombs is sponsoring the bill. If passed, the measure would allow the Convention Center Authority to transfer up to $300 million to the East Bank Development Authority for infrastructure projects. A press release from the mayor’s office notes the bill could strengthen Metro’s credit rating and free up non-tax revenues for affordable housing projects.
