Outsourcing on fast track for implementation

A letter sent by Gov. Bill Haslam's staff to Sen. Richard Briggs.

Plans for the state's massive outsourcing contract, awarded last week to Jones Lang LaSalle, are steamrolling ahead, even though the state won't sign an actual contract until the end of the month.

The Facilities Management Steering Committee met on March 27, the day before the bid was unveiled. According to a PowerPoint shown to the group, a "Governance Executive" will be in place May 1 who will "manage the overall relationship" between the Office of Customer Focused Government, JLL and the entities that sign onto the contract. The contract itself is set to be signed by the state Friday, April 28; the new "executive" would start the next Monday.
