Dollar General swaps out merchandising chiefs

Dollar General has brought back a former executive to be its chief merchandising officer, replacing an officer who had only joined the retail giant in late 2013.

Jim Thorpe rejoined Goodlettsville-based Dollar General as executive vice president on Friday, a day after the company and David D'Arezzo parted ways. Thorpe was a senior VP and general merchandise manager at Dollar General from 2006 until he retired in mid-2012. In all, he has 24 years of merchandising experience, including more than a decade at Sears.
