The Nashville-based National Federation of Independent Business March jobs report shows that small businesses are slowing their hiring, with the entity's small business employment index having fallen 1.9 points to 101.6.

According to a release and despite the decline in hiring, the current NFIB index figure remains above the 2025 average of 101.2 and the historical average of 100.
