Nashville-based The Mainland Companies is planning a mixed-tower for a Melrose-area property that sits near Publix. If standing today, the building would be Eighth Avenue's tallest structure located south of the interstate inner loop.

According to a document submitted to the Metro Codes Department, the building would rise on two parcels — 2207 and 2211 Eighth Ave. S. — and tentatively be called 2211 EIGHTH.
