The brave new world of human-robot collaboration

Dr. Julie Adams, a former Vanderbilt University professor and an expert on artificial intelligence, robotics and human-machine teaming, spoke at TEDxNashville in March on the topic of “Robots and Humans — When It’s Best They Work Together.”

Adams, now at Oregon State University, is not the only one thinking about these issues. Elon Musk (perhaps most vocally), Bill Gates and Stephen Hawking have all called for more oversight of the development of new artificial intelligence technologies for fear that the technology could someday break free of the constraints implemented by its human creators.
