Saint Thomas restarts heart transplant program

Saint Thomas Health officials said Monday they will relaunched their heart transplant program five years after needing to suspend it when key doctors left the hospital system.

The program, which has been accredited by the United Network for Organ Sharing, is being led by Kyle Stribling as medical director and Ashok Babu as surgical director. Babu recently joined Saint Thomas from the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, where he had been a cardiothoracic surgeon since late 2011.
