Post-affair poll shows Barry retains majority support

A new poll shows Mayor Megan Barry retains strong approval ratings in the wake of a tumultuous month that included her admission of an affair with the chief of her security detail, the start of a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation probe into the affair and the launch of the campaign for the mayor’s signature multi-billion-dollar transit initiative.

Vanderbilt Center for Democratic Institutions researchers found Davidson County residents’ support for Barry dropped to 61 percent from 72 percent last year. The poll was conducted Feb. 8-19, more than a week after the affair news broke.
