Roberts: Only cheaters will lose TennCare

State Sen. Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) remains adamant that the only people who could lose TennCare if work requirements are implemented are people who are "cheating the system," not anyone who cannot work for a legitimate health or caregiving reason.

During a series of emails and a lengthy phone call over the weekend, Roberts elaborated on what he says are misunderstandings by the general public, the media and the Tennessee Justice Center — a nonprofit that assists state families with TennCare, Medicaid and Medicare eligibility and appeals — as to the intent and the expanse of a bill requesting a waiver allowing a work requirement from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
