The Tennessee Titans’ first win this season may come Tuesday — rather than Sunday — as the team seeks approval for a new $75 million bridge extension into the East Bank.

Metro Finance Department Director Jenneen Reed joined Kellen DeCoursey, a Titans executive, to pitch the Metro Sports Authority Thursday morning on a second addition to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge that would channel pedestrians closer to the new Nissan Stadium.

Reed mentioned the Super Bowl just once during her initial pitch, though the project’s proposed timeline reflects pressure to finish before Nashville hosts America’s signature entertainment event in early 2030. Demolition and construction would start in 2028 with a completion date in fall 2029. Reed listed "Super Bowl readiness" as a key factor behind the project, which she deems an "anchor piece of infrastructure" for the team and the district.

The bridge has been renovated and repaired numerous times since opening as the Sparkman Street Bridge in 1909. It was renamed in honor of acclaimed journalist John Seigenthaler after his death in 2014.
