Metro Nashville has put LAZ Parking Georgia LLC — the same firm once at the center of a controversial parking privatization proposal — in charge of its upstart smart parking program.

Before approving it in April 2021, Metro Council first made meaningful progress on advancing the smart parking program alongside the preliminary restructuring of Metro Water Services and Public Works to establish Nashville’s new Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure. The program is now in the hands of LAZ Parking Georgia as of New Year’s Eve.
