GOP condemns racism during Nashville meeting

While gathered for their annual summer meeting in Nashville, Republican leaders from around the country on Friday condemned “the violence and racist beliefs of white supremacists” who gathered in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier this month, distinguishing themselves from the less specific condemnations from President Donald Trump, who said there had been “an egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides.”

The Republican National Committee unanimously passed the resolution during their Friday general session at Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. The resolution said the Republican Party “is unified in revulsion at the abhorrent white supremacist demonstration” in Virginia.
