While Tennessee voter turnout saw a decrease in the 2024 election cycle compared to the number of 2020, the state’s voter engagement is following an upward trend overall, according to a new report from nonpartisan think tank ThinkTennessee.

Sixty-four percent — 3.09 million out of 4.83 million— of Tennessee’s registered voters cast ballots in the November 2024 presidential election, down from a record breaking 69.3 percent in 2020. Still, this remains higher than the 61.9 percent turnout seen in both 2012 and 2016.
