Weigh Down, the Christian weight loss program, has been sued by a former employee for religious discrimination in Federal Court.

Karen E. Townsend's suit states that employees were "never to question her teachings and that if they did not espouse her doctrinal beliefs they should seek employment elsewhere." The suit says that Weigh Down founder and president Gwen Shamblin founded a nondenominational church/worship group called Remnant Fellowship in 1999, and that the majority of its members are also employees of The Weigh Down Workshop.
