Exit strategy being planned for Riggins-Ezzell

At least two meetings have been held in the past week to discuss the best way to nudge Tennessee State Museum executive director Lois Riggins-Ezzell into retirement, the Post has learned.

Last Tuesday, on the heels of a lengthy Post report on the problems with the search to hire a replacement for the longtime head of the museum, Douglas Henry Tennessee State Museum Commission chair Tom Smith met with Bobby Thomas, the head of the Tennessee State Museum Foundation, and Mark Cate, who is consulting (for $10,000 a month) with the commission as the museum's new $160 million facility moves forward. Cate said other people were also in attendance but would not confirm who; neither would Thomas.
