Nashville Symphony could lay off 131 employees

The Nashville Symphony Association has made plans to temporarily lay off 131 full-time employees — the latest COVID-19-fueled cuts stinging the city’s nonprofit community.

The layoffs, which are being termed as furloughs, involve both the organization's musicians and staff and would be effective June 30. It is unclear if Giancarlo Guererro, the organization's music director and conductor, is among those who could be furloughed.
