State Republicans are pushing a bill that could expand the ability of the Tennessee attorney general to appeal certain legal challenges to the constitutionality of state laws.

Senate Bill 1731, sponsored by Sen. John Stevens (R-Huntingdon), would allow the attorney general to make immediate appeals to trial court rulings on injunctions, certain dismissal orders involving the constitutionality of state laws and denials to sovereign immunity to the state or to state officials.
