ULI recognizes nine projects for excellence

The Urban Land Institute Nashville District Council has awarded nine middle Tennessee development projects — including the design and construction of Thompson Nashville hotel and the renovation of the Belcourt Theatre.

Approximately 600 ULI Nashville members and guests gathered for ULI Nashville’s Excellence in Development Awards event at the Omni Nashville Hotel Monday night, according to a release. The awards recognize quality land use, design, construction, economics and collaboration among team members.

Thompson Nashville captured the "People's Choice" award as voted Monday night by attendees of the event.

“The projects recognized tonight represent the ways we are building our city and how that makes Nashville special and not ‘Anytown USA’,” Jimmy Granbery, chairman of ULI Nashville, said in a release. “We’re building for our creative folks, our growing diversity, for affordability, our livability and the health of our community.”

Judges for the 2017 awards were Mike Higbee, founder/president of Development Concepts Inc. in Indianapolis; Bill Odle, strategic planning director with TBG Partners in Houston; and Jessica Toal, architect with ASD|SKY in Atlanta.

The nine winning projects (there were 16 entries) are as follows:
