Billionaire's firm still buying CHS

The largest shareholder of Community Health Systems is keeping the faith in his money-losing investment as 2017 draws to a close.

Tianqiao Chen's Shanda group of companies last week disclosed that it has grown its stake in Franklin-based CHS to 22.6 percent by spending more than $1.6 million on about 406,000 shares of the hospital chain. The purchases last Wednesday and Thursday came about two weeks after Shanda spent about $400,000 on another block of stock.
