UT’s Jennings to sit first half of Gator Bowl

Standout Tennessee wide receiver Jauan Jennings will have to sit out the first half of the Jan. 2 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl, to which the Volunteers on Sunday accepted a bid to play the Indiana Hoosiers.

Jennings was suspended for his actions in UT’s regular-season finale when he stepped on Vanderbilt player Justice Shelton-Mosley’s face while his helmet was off late in the fourth quarter of UT’s 28-10 win. His suspension was announced last week in a statement from SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. On Sunday, both Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt and Athletic Director Philip Fulmer addressed Jennings’ suspension during a teleconference call.
