Lawmakers appoint new comptroller, re-elect secretary of state

Members of the Tennessee House and Senate met in joint session Wednesday to elect the state’s constitutional officers.

The only position with a vacancy was comptroller of the treasury, responsible for financial audits of government operations. Comptroller Justin Wilson announced last month he would not seek another term and offered his deputy, Jason Mumpower, as his favored successor.
