Nashville SC staff built with championship lineage

Nashville Soccer Club announced several additions to its coaching staff on Wednesday, with three familiar faces joining head coach Gary Smith for the team’s debut season in Major League Soccer.

Steve Guppy and Brett Jacobs will serve as assistant coaches while former NSC standout Matt Pickens will serve as goalkeeper coach. All three have a history with Smith and played a role in winning the 2010 MLS Cup with the Colorado Rapids after the club went 12-8-10 in Smith’s third season at the helm. That squad finished in fifth place in the Western Conference before topping the Columbus Crew and San Jose Earthquakes to reach the MLS Cup final, where it knocked off FC Dallas 2-1.
