Some Republicans push Medicaid expansion

The years-long effort to expand Medicaid in Tennessee will not be a one-party affair in 2020.

Rep. Ron Travis (R-Dayton) filed legislation this week that would revive former Republican Gov. Bill Haslam’s doomed Insure Tennessee proposal, seeking to take up the federal government’s offer of more Medicaid money under the Affordable Care Act. Nearly 40 states have accepted or are in the process of accepting expansion money.
