School stance costs Briley Bellevue support

Rendering of new school planned for Bellevue

A group of Bellevue-based elected officials are criticizing Mayor David Briley — and endorsing his opponent, Metro Councilmember John Cooper — after the mayor said earlier this week that work on a new high school in Bellevue might be delayed.

When asked at a small forum Wednesday night about equity in Metro Nashville Public Schools, Briley said there was a greater need for capital improvements in southeast Nashville and that there are “a lot of empty seats” in north and northwest Nashville schools.
