IMPROVE Act heads to Haslam

Gov. Bill Haslam's IMPROVE Act — or the Improving Manufacturing, Public Roads and Opportunities for a Vibrant Economy Act — or the Tax Cut Act of 2017 — is finally heading to his desk for his signature, after the House concurred with the Senate version of the bill Monday night, sparing further debate in conference committee.

The House passed the bill last week after a dramatic five-hour debate but did not include an amendment adding property tax relief for veterans, the elderly and the disabled that was in the Senate version.
