It’s been two years since the U.S. Department of Justice launched a civil rights investigation into Trousdale Turner Correctional Center, one of the state’s most dangerous penal facilities and Tennessee’s largest prison run by the Brentwood-based private prison operator CoreCivic.

During that time, the prison has shuffled through several wardens and faced continued scrutiny over reports of harmful and inhumane conditions — all while the status of the investigation is unclear.
