Delishia Porterfield Metro Council

Metro Council Budget and Finance Chair Delishia Porterfield speaks at a June 3 meeting.

The Metro Council will soon decide what is included in the city's fiscal year 2026 budget, taking Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s $3.8 billion proposal and a recently filed substitute budget into consideration.

On Thursday, Metro Council Budget and Finance Committee Chair Delishia Porterfield filed a substitute budget, which will be considered at the council’s June 17 meeting. Porterfield's proposal is in the same amount as the mayor's budget, meaning the potential for a property tax increase remains. It adds several requests made by the council and residents during the June 3 budget hearing.
