Trump nominates western district U.S. attorney

President Donald Trump has nominated a Western Tennessee district attorney general to serve as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Tennessee.

Michael Dunavant is currently district attorney general for the 25th judicial district, which includes Fayette, Hardeman, Lauderdale, McNairy and Tipton counties. He has held that position since 2006 and was in private practice for a decade before that. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a law degree from the University of Mississippi.
