Court takes up election commission authority

The Tennessee Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday on a case that has the potential to affect election commissions across the state.

As the Knoxville News Sentinel reports, Roane County attorney Tom McFarland decided not to challenge his opponent's residency during a 2014 judicial election, despite questions as to whether Michael Pemberton lived in Knoxville. McFarland lost the election, but because a citizen had filed a challenge to Pemberton's residency, McFarland could not then challenge the election results afterwards. Jamie Satterfield explains:
