You wouldn’t say Chris Massaro thought outside the box when it came to hiring a new Middle Tennessee State baseball coach.

He did look outside the program, though, and found Jim Toman, whose three decades of college baseball experience include a successful nine-year run as head coach at Liberty. Last season, he was assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at College of Charleston.
