Metro picks construction manager for MLS stadium

Metro officials have picked a construction manager for the proposed soccer stadium at The Fairgrounds Nashville: a joint bid by Minneapolis-based M.A. Mortenson Company and Cincinnati-based Messer Construction Co.

According to a letter notifying the company of Metro’s decision sent Wednesday, the award is contingent upon successful contract negotiations and approval by the Metropolitan Sports Authority. The Tennessean reported that the Sports Authority on Thursday decided to hold off on hiring Messer/Mortenson in light of a protest from another firm.
