From design to implementation, Donelson Library makes sustainability a priority

Just a few years ago, the Donelson Plaza shopping center stood largely defunct as an underutilized commercial site in a fast-growing Nashville neighborhood. Now the area is home to an expansive 25,000-square-foot, two-story library being celebrated locally and internationally for its sustainable design.

The Donelson branch of the Nashville Public Library system opened in June 2024. Architects and officials involved with the project say its central location and proximity to the WeGo Star rail line make it a welcome centerpiece for the neighborhood, with more than 154,000 visitors since its opening.
