Less than a week after he lost his place as the all-time leader in games played by a Nashville Predators draft pick, David Legwand decided he had played his last game.

The first selection in franchise history (second overall in 1998) formally announced his retirement Thursday afternoon having remained unsigned through the first 10 weeks of the season. Six days earlier, Scott Hartnell played his 1,137th career contest, which gave him one more than Legwand.
