CRE company claims failure to pay commission in suit

A local commercial real estate company is suing the former owner of a downtown building, alleging failure to pay a commission related to the sale of that property.

Recently, Juli Horton and Ned Horton sold the small building at 136 Rosa L. Parks Blvd., which is home to speakeasy Red Phone Booth, for $3.1 million to a Georgia-based LLC that is affiliated with the Red Phone Booth business. Brentwood-based Urban Grout Commercial Real Estate contends it had an agreement with the Hortons to find a buyer in an off-market deal, with the Hortons to pay a 3 percent commission following a successful sale in exchange for its services.
