Harry R. Jacobson, Vanderbilt's vice chancellor for health affairs, has been tapped to join the board of directors of pharmaceutical giant, Merck & Co. effective tomorrow.

Serving as one of 12 outside directors on the 13 member board, he will stand for election by the company's shareholders in April of next year.
