An Excellent Adversary

Many of the lawyers on our Top 101 list found success by way of deep specialization – finding one area of the law, learning it, and, over the course of a career, gradually becoming experts. Not so for W. David Bridgers of Neal & Harwell.

The “Areas of Practice” section of Bridgers’ profile on the firm’s website lists health care fraud and abuse, environmental litigation and complex commercial litigation. His most notable wins range from high-level (and fairly esoteric) contract disputes (Cambio v. Reardon, a 2004-2006 federal suit Bridgers argued, affirming a jury verdict and multi-million award for his client Thomas Reardon) to a first amendment case centered around a pornographic bookstore (City of Knoxville v. Entertainment Resources LLC) that resulted in the removal of a “constitutionally vague” city ordinance regulating the location of adult businesses.
