Former Vanguard vice chair to advise big PE firm

Veteran local health care executive Keith Pitts has been named an operating advisor at private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice, the company that has in recent years backed several Nashville high-fliers.

Pitts is the former vice chairman of Vanguard Health Systems and Tenet Healthcare. He stepped down from the latter role last August, nearly six years after helping oversee the sale of Vanguard to the Texas-based company. Previously during his four-decade career in health care, he was chairman and CEO of Mariner Post-Acute Network, CFO of OrNda HealthCorp and leader of Ernst & Young’s Western U.S. health care consulting practice.
