Massachusetts officials are beginning to review the sale of Essent Healthcare's Bay State hospitals to Steward Health Care, the company formed private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management to buy Caritas Christi Health Care.  The Eagle-Tribune reports on a Havervill city meeting for citizens to discuss the proposed sale of Merrimack Valley Hospital. "We want them to reaffirm their commitment to keeping the hospital in Haverhill and expanding services there," Fiorentini said, noting that Merrimack Valley Hospital is the city's largest employer and among its largest taxpayers. "It's important that councilors, as well as the public, attend the hearing." If the sale is completed, Essent will own three hospitals in Texas, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
