Centerre to be acquired by Kindred for $195M

Louisville-based Kindred Healthcare is acquiring local rehabilitation hospital operator Centerre Healthcare for $195 million in cash.

Centerre, based in Franklin, operates 11 inpatient rehab hospitals through joint ventures with acute-care hospitals and has two additional hospitals under construction. Through the deal, Kindred will combine its existing rehabilitation hospitals and services with Centerre's locations to create a new business line, Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services, that will operate in 36 states.
