Former Vanderbilt women’s basketball coach Melanie Balcomb resigned as associate head coach at Texas Tech on Tuesday. She cited personal reasons for the move, which came two days before the program’s Big 12 opener.

“At this time, I need to focus on dealing with a family medical issue that won’t allow me to commit my full energies to coaching,” Balcomb said in a statement. “I’d like to thank Texas Tech for the opportunity to be a Lady Raider and wish them success as they enter league play.”
