The Vanderbilt graduate was the outright leader Thursday after the first round of the Scottish Open, his first event in Great Britain in more than a decade. He made nine birdies, including four straight beginning at No. 3, and finished one stroke ahead of five players, including Rickie Fowler and Lee Westwood.
